I am a building apprentice. I have been physically working in the construction industry for a year and a bit. I own a construction company with my husband so my husband is my business partner, boss and mentor. It's pretty cool... and challenging at times! When it comes to eve workwear clothing, I love that it has been designed with women in mind. It is important to have workwear that fits you well so that you're comfortable and safe while you work and an added bonus is that it looks great!

When I first thought about working in the construction industry, I thought I might find lifting and operating power tools challenging. However, the most challenging thing I have faced as a female in the trades industry is feeling like an outsider and not quite 'belonging' in the construction industry. While I still often struggle with this, seeking out and building friendships with other women in trades, contributing to the online 'tradie lady' community, and realising that the trades industry is made up of all different types of individuals not just the stereotypical tradies, despite my first impression, has helped a lot!

My favourite thing about working as a tradeswoman is that I love having skills. Every day I get to add to my skill set and I'll have those skills for life.
